Jesus lived an extraordinary life. He embraced an extraordinary death. He experienced a miraculous resurrection. The culmination of all of the Lord’s will is found in this perfect, excellent, complete life and work of Jesus. He is the Christ which in the simplest terms means the anointed one. It is the Greek translation of the Hebrew word rendered for “Messiah”. Jesus is the Christ.
To believe this is to believe that he is the savior of men. That he was anointed and consecrated to his great redemptive work as Prophet, Priest, and King. It is only this belief which only acquired by faith can you come unto God. Jesus as the Christ made peace between the Father and humanity once again before the fall of the first Adam. Jesus came as the last Adam and fulfilled all that was required of Him obtaining that peace for us once and for all (1 Corinthians 15:45).
Jesus is the Author of Eternal Salvation, “And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,” (Heb. 5:9 NKJV). He is our Captain of Salvation, “For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.”(Heb. 2:10 NKJV). He is the Chief Cornerstone “The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone.” (Psa. 118:22 NKJV). He is our Mediator, “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,” (1 Tim. 2:5 NKJV). He is the Only Begotten Son of the Father, “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.” (John 1:18 NKJV). He is the Shepherd and Overseer of our Souls, “For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” (1 Pet. 2:25 NKJV). Jesus the Christ is Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. He is the Prince of Life, “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Is. 9:6 NKJV); “and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.” (Acts 3:15 NKJV).
Jesus came to fulfill the Will of His Father in which he is not willing that any should perish. “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Pet. 3:9 NKJV). Jesus became the sacrifice for all of humanity and creation to become the propitiation for all sin. “And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.” (1 John 2:2 NKJV).
It is the connection of our faith, the substance that we believe in our hearts that acknowledges and then we live accordingly, to Jesus as the Christ. That he died and rose and we were baptized with Him and made new in creation for the Glory of God and the His mission.
There are many other implications and Truths to be found that Jesus is the Christ. With this short article, I hope the Spirit speaks to you and fills you.
